Privacy
General Market (https://playgeneralmarket.com) is run by the team behind General Market. This page says what we collect when you play, why, and what you can do about it. You can play without an account, and we never ask for your phone number.
What we collect
- A random player ID created on your phone the first time you play. It is not linked to your name, number or contacts.
- A display name, only if you choose one for the leaderboard or a league.
- Your game results: the moves you made in each Daily Market, your score, and the leagues you join. We replay the moves to check scores are honest.
- Usage events, such as opening the game, finishing a run, sharing a result or watching an ad, with the time. We use these to see which parts of the game people enjoy.
- Purchases: the email you give at checkout, the item, the amount and the payment reference. Card and bank details go straight to Paystack and never reach us.
- Your IP address, held briefly in memory to stop abuse. We don't store it with your results. Our hosting keeps short technical logs to fix errors.
Stored on your phone
The game keeps your player ID, today's progress, settings and chosen deck in your browser's storage, so you can pick up where you left off. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Who else sees it
- Paystack processes payments and emails your receipt. See Paystack's privacy policy.
- Google serves the optional video ads you choose to watch. Google may use cookies or device identifiers to show and measure ads. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Other players see your display name and score on the leaderboard and in leagues you join.
- Daily sponsors receive totals only (how many people played or saw their brand), never anything about you.
We do not sell your data.
How long we keep it
Game results and leaderboards are kept while the game runs. Purchase records are kept as long as the law requires for accounting.
Your choices
You can leave any league in the game. To change or remove your display name, or to have everything linked to your player ID deleted, email the contact address on this page (coming soon) with the player ID shown in the Shop. Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act you may also ask for a copy of your data or complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Children
General Market is meant for players aged 13 and over. Purchases need a parent's or guardian's permission if you are under 18.
Changes
If we change this page, we will update the date at the top.
